Course in VMAT treatment planning and Research Methods

Inholland University of Applied Sciences arrangerer to kurs tidlig denne høsten; «VMAT treatment planning» og «Research Methods». Se mer info under, og trykk på lenkene for å registrere deg.

Dear Colleagues,

With only a couple of weeks before the end of this Academic Year Inholland University of Applied Sciences would like to bring two courses under your attention. They both start with a kick-off in July, although we accept late registrations and will organize a second kick-off for both courses in August for late registrations.

VMAT TREATMENT PLANNING
During this full semester course, the participants will acquire comprehensive knowledge and skills in the field of Treatment Planning (TP) for Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT) and Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy (SABR). Due to the COVID-19 measures the complete module will be offered as a distance learning course.

If you want read more about or want to enroll in this course you can register here.
For more information, please send an e-mail to the course director Jelle Scheurleer

RESEARCH METHODS
Distance online learning combined with three-day intensive training (due to the Corona-virus this three-day intensive training can also be followed online) at our campus will provide you with the methodological and statistical skills to design, conduct and report research projects in the field of healthcare.

If you want to enroll in the second international edition of this course you can register here.
For more information, please send an e-mail to the course director Moniek van Klink

Gender and Work from Home during Covid-19 Survey

Vær med å svare på spørreundersøkelsen til Women in Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering om utfordringer knyttet til hjemmekontor i korona-tiden. Undersøkelsen tar ca. 10 minutter å besvare. Se mer info under!

We invite you to participate in a survey that aims to collect data about the main issues that biomedical engineers and medical physicists (academics and professionals) and other related STEM professionals are facing when working from home in the current pandemic COVID-19 situation.

The survey is being conducted by the Women in Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering task group of the International Union for Physical and Engineering Sciences in Medicine (IUPESM). We strongly encourage you to complete the questionnaire so that we can identify how our workforce has been affected by the working from home situation. Every response will help maximize the statistical power of the study. The data collected will be non-identifiable. It will take you ~10-15 minutes to complete the survey.

Analyzed data will be presented at relevant professional conferences and in a publication.

This research has been cleared by Carleton University Research Ethics Board-B (CUREB-B Clearance #112898), under the study title: GENDER AND WORK FROM HOME DURING COVID19 SURVEY.

All medical physicists, biomedical engineers and other STEM scientists in academia or clinics over the age of 18 are eligible to participate. Participation is completely voluntary and there is no remuneration offered for your time.

We at IUPESM care about your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with fair information practices and applicable data privacy laws. The privacy notice is included in the survey’s introduction.

As part of this survey, data is only visible to the survey administrator and all records are anonymized during collection. Please note that we are not asking for your personal contact details.

The non-personal data will be aggregated to provide broad demographic information, such as the geographic location of participants. Collecting this type of information allows us to analyze trends and statistics and provide better service and security.

Course in Radiotherapy Physics

Oppdatering: Kurset er flyttet fra november 2020 til januar 2021.

Det arrangeres kurs i stråleterapi-fysikk den 12-16 Januar 2021 (Sutton) og 2-6 mars 2021 (Chelsea). Kursene arrangeres av The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR).

Trykk her for mer informasjon.

This course provides practical and theoretical education for the support of a modern radiotherapy physics service within radiotherapy.

It is aimed primarily at recently qualified radiotherapy physicists, but should also be invaluable to post-graduate students, researchers, clinical oncologists, engineers, radiographers, manufacturers’ representatives and in fact, anyone needing to deepen or update their understanding of this rapidly evolving field.

The faculty is composed of physicists, clinicians and radiographers, many of whom are internationally renowned for their expertise. Saturday workshops and demonstrations make full use of the facilities of the Radiotherapy and Physics Departments of The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. The course content is reviewed annually to reflect changes in practice and technology.

EFOMP: Ny arbeidsgruppe søker kandidater

EFOMP søker kandidater til en ny arbeidsgruppe: «Role of MPE in Clinical Trials». Utfyllende informasjon om arbeidsgruppen finner du her.

Søknadsfrist: 10. juni 2020.

Fysikere som ønsker å søke kan benytte følgende skjema og sende til:sciencecommittee@efomp.org
(med kopi til secretary@efomp.org)

Kunngjøring fra EFOMP:

The rationale of the WG: To develop a consensus guidance document for the work MPEs do in clinical trials across Europe. The document will complement the work by American colleagues in AAPM TG 113. In addition, the document will aim to complement any MPE guidance from National Member Organisations. Furthermore, the document will aim to cover external beam radiotherapy, brachytherapy, nuclear medicine / molecular radiotherapy and imaging. Including all of these areas should enable the WG to cover all current and emerging areas of the role of an MPE in clinical trials. Considerations will be made for the ethics of MPEs working in clinical trials. This will include, but is not limited to, general advice and appropriate use of anonymized data.

ECMP Torino er utsatt til 2021

The European Congress of Medical Physics (ECMP) er utsatt til 16-19 juni 2021.

Link: www.ecmp2020.org

Many countries have been critically affected by COVID-19. We all have to deal with uncertainties in almost every aspect of our lives and it is clear that we will need time to recover. Therefore, although all the members of EFOMP are firmly committed to ECMP 2020, we have decided, together with the Italian Association of Medical Physics, to postpone our Congress:

The 3rd European Congress of Medical Physics, organized by EFOMP and hosted by AIFM will be held in Torino, Italy, June 16th-19th, 2021.

This postponement is a fully-equivalent replacement for the planned event originally scheduled for September 23–26, 2020 and for this reason we decided to leave the original name of the event “ECMP 2020”. The ESMPE pre-congress meetings and the AIFM National Congress will also be postponed and will take place on 16th June 2021, immediately before the ECMP.

Registration fees for the ECMP and the ESMPE pre-congress meetings will be unchanged for the new congress date. Registration for ECMP 2020 (taking place in June 2021) remains open.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to our participants and industry partners for their understanding, continuous support and flexibility in this challenging situation. Most of our industry partners have already expressed their ongoing commitment and are fully on board for ECMP 2020 in June 2021.
